Association of Islamic Banking and Financial Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM)
Association of Islamic Banking and Financial Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM) was established in 1995 with the objectives of fostering the establishment and conduct of sound Islamic banking systems and practices in Malaysia. In cooperation and consultation with Bank Negara Malaysia and other domestic regulatory bodies, AIBIM promotes and represents the interests of its members, to promote Islamic bankingrelated education and training programmes. AIBIM also promotes education and training in Islamic banking as a means of upgrading Islamic banking expertise in Malaysia. AIBIM aims at promoting and representing the interests of members by all means and methods consistent with the laws of Malaysia in/or connected with Malaysia and to render where possible such advice or assistance as may be deemed necessary and expedient to members. In pursuing the above objectives, AIBIM works in co-operation with other like-minded, domestic or international, associations and institutions.
Area of Services
- Organised Islamic Liquidity Management Workshop in Qatar and Bahrain in 2009 and in London in 2010.
- Organised Realising Cross
- Border Liquidity Management between Malaysia and Indonesia in Jakarta in 2011.
Awards/Accolades/Achievements
- Launched two standardised documents for deposit taking and placement transactions in 2009. The move significantly enhanced Islamic interbank activities by improving efficiency, limiting misunderstandings and reducing the cost of Islamic banking transactions.
- Interbank Murabahah Master Agreement (IMMA) and Corporate Murabahah Master Agreement (CMMA)
- Interbank and Corporate Wakalah Placement Agreement (WPA)
- Launched Bloomberg AIBIM Bursa Malaysia Sovereign Shariah Index in February 2011.
