Bank Negara Malaysia Signs MOU with Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority and Dubai Financial Services Authority

Bank Negara Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority (QCFRA) and Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) respectively today.

Bank Negara Malaysia was represented by Deputy Governor, Datuk Zamani Abdul Ghani, while QFCRA and DFSA was represented by their Chief Executive Officers, Mr Phillip Thorpe and Mr David Knott respectively.

The MOUs with QFCRA and DFSA is part of the Malaysia International Islamic Financial Centre (MIFC) initiatives to establish collaborative relationships with key strategic partners towards the development of Islamic finance in the following areas:

  • Cooperation on capacity building and human capital development in Islamic finance;
  • Mutual cooperation on the international Islamic finance development; and
  • Shariah harmonisation and strategic promotion initiatives.

These smart partnerships between East and West Asia would mutually strengthen the inter-linkages amongst the Islamic financial centres and reinforce inter-regional trade and investment flows.
